Biography

London- and Shanghai-based coloratura soprano, Juliet Petrus, has built a singular career spanning over 25 years and three continents.

Her high-flying agility has made her sought-after Queen of the Night in German, English, and Mandarin, and a frequent Carmina Burana soloist. Other solo repertoire spans from Baroque opera to contemporary works.

As a specialist in Chinese art song, she has appeared on some of the most revered stages in the world, including Lincoln Center with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

As an author and educator, Juliet sits at the forefront of cross-cultural education, utilising classical singing as a bridge between East and West.  Her book Singing in Mandarin was published in 2020 by Rowman and Littlefield, and is the first text to codify Mandarin as a language for classical singing.  She frequently lectures in conservatoires across China, US, and Europe, using her unique skills as a polyglot and multicultural individual to guide the next generation of classical singers.

She is currently pursuing her PhD in vocal pedagogy and performance at the Royal College of Music in London as a London Arts and Humanities Partnership scholarship recipient.
